Far Cry 6 will be released on 26 May 2021

Far Cry 6 Credits 2020 has been host to a ton of delays. Everything ranging from product launches to games has been pushed back or even cancelled. Games such as Cyberpunk 2077 have been postponed on several occasions. Ubisoft's Far Cry 6 was slated for an early 2021 release but a subsequent announcement told us that it would be delayed indefinitely. However the Microsoft Store may have given us a rough idea about when Far Cry 6 will be launched.

Far Cry 6's previous release date was set for February 18 2021 but was delayed to Ubisoft's Fiscal Year 2021-22 due to the impact of COVID-19 and this Microsoft listing may have confirmed the delay won't be too long.

Ah the Microsoft store. It’s just the best when it comes to keeping confidential release dates under wraps mainly because it never actually succeeds in doing so. According to the Microsoft Store listing for Far Cry 6 the game is dropping May 25 at 5pm PT / May 26 2pm BST. Now that’s what we can call an efficient leak.

The delays were announced as Ubisoft published its second quarter earnings results. In a follow-up conference call chief financial officer Frédérick Duguet said the company planned to release the games by September 30 2021.

Ubisoft also delayed the Avatar game in development at Massive Entertainment the studio behind The Division franchise Far Cry 6 Silver Bars to its fiscal year starting in April 2022. Earlier this year the release of James Cameron’s Avatar 2 movie was delayed to December 16 2022.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot put the original delays down to the pandemic: "Those two games could have been launched [on schedule] without COVID for sure." With the pandemic ongoing that's perhaps worth bearing in mind and as always any leaked information should be taken with a pinch of salt. That said a three-month delay does line up with what Ubisoft's said in public.
